Technology (CEET) at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette will be
organizing this workshop.

Conference: "Coastal Marsh Dieback in the Northern Gulf of Mexico:
Extent, Causes, Consequences, and Remedies," Radisson Hotel,
Baton Rouge, 8:30 a.m.- 5 p.m. Scientists, public officials, private
citizens, and corporations will share information and propose remedies
for this unprecedented problem of salt marsh dieback that is possibly
affecting a third of Louisiana's salt marshes as well as some in Texas.

August 17, 2000
On Thursday, August 17, 2000 a meeting was held at Nelson Memorial
on the LSU campus to address the brown marsh issue. Sponsored
by the LSU Agricultural Center and the Natural Resource Conservation
Service, the meeting was a gathering of academics, resource managers,
regulators, and private landowners that are engaged in this critical
issue. As a result of the meeting, a multi-agency, scientific
working group has been formed to address the extent, cause(s), impacts,
and remedies for this phenomenon. This file documents
the meeting through a compilation of notes from technical presentations
and group discussion.
